Wine and Food Tour Suggested Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive Auckland Enjoy an orientation tour of the City of Sails finishing with a welcome dinner tonight

Day 2
Auckland wineries
We visit the Kumeu district. This is classic rural wine estate country. We will take tours through the Kumeu River Winery, a historic family owned winery, Coopers Creek winery and Matua Valley winery. We enjoy the wines and exceptional cuisine of Soljans Estate family owned for 3 generations

Day 3
Waiheke Island
Waiheke Island is a relaxing 35-minute ferry cruise from downtown Auckland city. Renowned for red wines due to the low rainfall and high summer temperatures. We visit stoneyridge Vineyards, Ferrymans Vineyards, mudbrick winery with it picturesque views and magnificent restaurant we stop here for lunch before continuing to cable Bay vineyards returning to Auckland by ferry late this afternoon

Day 4
Auckland - Rotorua Travel to Rotorua with the afternoon free to relax with a soak in the hot pools. Tonight enjoy a local Hangi (feast) and Maori concert

Day 5
Rotorua Enjoy the many sights that Rotorua has to offer. New Zealand’s geothermal wonderland we will visit the geysers and hot pools. As well as the agrodome to sample the life of rural New Zealand.

Day 6
Rotorua – Taupo- Napier
We leave Rotorua and travel to Taupo with a stop at Whakatipu Reserve a wonderland of geothermal activity and Huka Falls. New Zealand's most visited natural attraction. The thundering Huka Falls provides a fantastic photo opportunity - more than 220,000 litres of water tumbles over the cliff face per second. Stop at Taupo to view the great lake. The powerful beauty of the volcanic landscape provides a dramatic backdrop. We have time here for lunch before our drive to Napier

Day 7
Hawkes Bay Wineries
The Hawkes Bay is one of New Zealand’s premier wine producing regions. It is a veritable treasure trove of vineyards, offering wines of superlative quality, many of which have won both national and international acclaim. Hawkes Bay is one of the sunniest provinces in New Zealand. The climate, combined with the excellent growing conditions and the artistry of the winemakers, culminates in an ability to produce some of the world’s premium wines. Today we will visit a selection of wineries including Black Barn Vineyard, a small vineyard with a focus on premium Bordeaux styled red varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. All wines are Estate Grown and the fruit is hand picked. Craggy Range Winery, at the base of its namesake, Te Mata Peak, "The Giant." Take a tour of the complex. Walk through our exclusive Bordeaux fermentation hall and underground cellar to experience first hand the tradition of winemaking at its best. Enjoy barrel samples of wines not yet released: this is an experience not to be missed! Trinity Hill vineyards where wines are produced that are enjoyed around the world including London’s elite Ramsey’s restaurant. Vidal Estate one of Hawkes Bay leading wineries and restaurant

Day 8
Napier – Masterton This morning enjoy a walking tour of Napier the Art Deco capital of New Zealand. Learn how this city was virtually rebuilt after the great Earthquake of 1931. Travel to Masterton in the heart of the Wairarapa.

Day 9
Masterton to Wellington
Wairarapa has always lived off the land and today the region's wine and food make it a treasure trove for gourmets. Diners can sample anything from venison to mushrooms, berry fruit to crayfish, eels to olives. Start the day in Martinborough Wine Village where numerous wineries are located. Visit a selection of wineries offering wine tasting including Palliser Estate, Te Kairanga Wines and Voss Estate.

Day 10
Wellington – Picton – Blenheim
This morning we have time to visit Te Papa New Zealand National Museum. Te Papa is a gateway to an encounter with the essence of New Zealand’s land and People. Wonderful Maori art and objects are presented through fascinating stories and interactivities. This afternoon we cross to the South island on the interislander one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world and then travel a short distance to Blenheim

Day 11
Blenheim – Nelson
Blenheim offers a top selection of wineries where you can sample some of the finest New Zealand wines. We visit a selection of wineries including Wither Hills estate, Cloudy Bay Marlborough's Icon Winery for a tasting of the award winning range of wines. Nautilus Estate where the winemaking facilities are state of the art and the Mudhouse Complex. A very neat combination of small Marlborough producers in one area. Here taste the wines of Mudhouse and Le Grays, taste schnapps from the Prenzel distillery and taste the Marlborough Olives and Olive Oil. Travel to Nelson

Day 12
Nelson
The Nelson wine trail could be considered to be one of the best in the country due to scenic countryside and spectacular settings of wineries throughout the region. The region has some of New Zealand’s most beautiful coastal scenery. There is also any abundance of excellent restaurants. Today visit a selection of local wineries and craft stores

Day 13
Tour ends today with a flight to Auckland. You may wish to extend your tour to Queenstown or Christchurch This is a suggested itinerary for more information or other options please contact us

Any day of the week
The exoctic fruit winery Sentry Hill is situated just outside the small village of Lepperton, whilst still under the watchful eye of Mount Taranaki Sentry Hill was established in 1986 and has produced wines which have won approval from wine enthusiasts all throughout New Zealand. We will be experiencing wines which are produced by traditional methods, tase clean and crisp and are true to the flavour of the fruit in which they originate. Another traditionally method made brewery we will be visiting today is the "White Cliffs Brewery" A certified organic (Bio Gro NZ) that sells and lets you sample "Mikes Mild Ale" - a premium world class hand crafted english mild ale style brew. The White Cliffs is situated in the little town of Urenui. Next stop is Onaero's Waiau Estate, here we will enjoy the winey's Cafe, bar and gardens. We will then indulge ourselves in there gourmet lunch menu in a beautiful sheltered garden setting with indoor and outdoor flow. We will explore the Estates award winning wines and sample some of the finest cider made on site. Once we have refueled for the rest of the days travel we will then head to the beach of Onaero for a light stroll. Our last stop of the day is to the "Cottage Wines" were we will tour the winery and again sample the traditional fruit wines, dessert wines, liqueurs and Honey Mead.
